AISSA DIONE

Aissa Dione, a Franco-Senegalese artist-designer trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, a philosopher, dedicates her life to the recognition of the creativity and know-how present today in West Africa for the plastic arts and textiles.

She founded a weaving workshop in Dakar in 1985, adapting the traditional skills of local craftsmanship to international standards, all the while fighting for the recognition and sustainability of the textile sector in Senegal.

For 30 years, she has seduced the biggest names in design with the beauty of her cartons, leading to collaboration with prestigious houses such as Hermès, Dior, Moroso, Louboutin, Pierre Frey and Fendi Casa.

Her fabrics and accessories are silk, cotton and raffia jewels.

Not only interested in textiles, Aissa has also followed her passion for African woods leading her to create a carpentry and wood carving workshop in Dakar, where she designs and manufactures furniture.

In 2019, Aissa signed a training partnership with the prestigious Ecole Boulle.

Aissa Dione, artist and friend of the artists, juror of the Dakar Biennale, partner of AKAA,1st Paris art and design fair sponsored by the French government for the promotion of African Art, invested in the creation of the center of art in Lomé, Togo, exhibited in Tokyo and New York, is a woman of commitment, for whom design and artistic creation are an act of political economy.
